Day 2 Chennai
This morning after breakfast proceed for sightseeing of Chennai
Visit Fort St. George, San Thome Cathedral and the museum to see the
Art and Bronze Gallery. (Closed on Fridays and Public holidays). High
court, Marina Beach, San Thome Cathedral and Snake Park..

Day 03 :Chennai- Kanchipuram - Mahabalipuram
After breakfast drive to Mahabalipuram enroute visit Kanchipuram.
Kanchipuram
Kanchipuram (70 kms from Chennai (Madras)) is the ancient capital
of the Pallavas famous as a city of 1000 Temples and still has 124
shrines. The first temple dedicated to Shiva was built in the 7th
and 8th century & has paintings on the walls. Temples of Ekambareswara,
Kailasanatha, Sri Kamakshi and VaradaRaja swamy are of interest. Kanchipuram
is also famous for its silks.

Later visit Mahabalipuram
Mahabalipuram is (75Kms from Kanchipuram) famous for the 7th Century
Temples. Here on the seashore is an interesting group of ancient rock
hewn temples which are the examples of Dravidian style of Architecture.

Day 04 : Mahabalipuram - Trichy
This morning drive Trichy, it was the citadel of the Chola dynasty
in the medieval period. In the 18th century it witnessed the Carnatic
wars fought between the French and the English. The Rock-Fort is the
landmark of Trichy. A climb of 434 steps leads to the ancient temple
of Ganapati on top. From here you will get a good view of SriRangam
Temple and the Cauvery River.

Day 05 : Trichy - Tanjore - Madurai
Today after breakfast drive to Madurai enroute visit Tanjore,
the beautiful Chola Temple of Brihadeshwara is capped by a monolithic
cupola made of a single granite block weighing 80 tons which was taken
to the top with the help of a 6 km long ramp, an old technique used
by the Egyptians for building pyramids. Its bronzes and handicrafts
make Tanjore one of the highlights of a visit to South India.

Day 06 : Madurai
This morning after breakfast visit the great Meenakshi Temple
dedicated to the consort of Lord Shiva with its towering Gopurams
(rising high above the surrounding country side). Later, visit the
Tirumala Nayak Palace - A gracious building in the Indo saracenic
style, famous for the Stucco work on its domes & arches. There
is also an extensive museum dedicated to the life and work of Mahatma
Gandhi.

Day 07 : Madurai - Periyar
After breakfast drive to Periyar, the earliest sanctuary to be
set up in 1934, it extends to 777 square kms & forms part of the
high mountain ranges, the Western Ghats. Wild life can be seen while
cruising on Periyar Lake in a motor boat. Amongst the animals which
can be seen are elephants, wild boar, sambar, tiger, leopard, wild
dog, languor monkeys, etc.

Day 08 : Periyar - Kumarakom
Today morning drive to Kumarakom. Upon arrival at Kumarakom check
into your hotel. Later Visit Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary and have fun
getting close encounters with various birds.

Day 09 : Kumarakom-Houseboat
Today morning board the Kettuvalam (houseboat) and spend the day
cruising through the backwaters. The backwaters of Kerala are a unique
product of Kerala and are found nowhere else in the world. Kumarakom
Backwaters too are a network of lakes, canals and estuaries and deltas
of forty-four rivers that drain into the Arabian Sea. The backwaters
of Kerala are a self supporting Eco-system teeming with aquatic life.
The canals connect the villages together and are still used for local
transport. Over 900 km of this labyrinthine water world is navigable.
Cruise through the backwaters to Alleppey. Kumarakom backwaters are
there to silently embark the beauty signals spotted by the God of
Nature.

Day 10 : Alleppey - Cochin
After breakfast, disembark your Houseboat at Alleppey and drive
to Cochin.Upon arrival at Cochin check into your hotel.
Later proceed on a city tour of Cochin
Visit Spice & Fish market, Dutch Palace, Jewish Synagogue, St.Francis
Church, Bolghatty, Gunda and Willington Islands, Mattancherry Palace.
Evening enjoy Kathakali dance performance.

Day 11 : Cochin - Bangalore
This morning after breakfast transfer to Cochin airport to catch
flight for Bangalore. Upon Arrival at Bangalore airport & drive
to Mysore enroute visit Srirangapatanam.

Day 12 : Mysore
After breakfast proceed on a city tour of Mysore.
Visit the palace of the Maharaja built in 1911.The palace is of harmonious
syntheses of the Hindu and saracenic styles of architecture with archways,
domes, turrets, colonnades and sculptures which are magnificent. Drive
up to Chamundi hill to see Chamundeshwari Temple & a panoramic
view of Mysore. On the way back, see the Nandi Bull. Afternoon free
for exploring the colourful vegetable and flower market and bazaars.

Day 13 : Mysore -Belur - Halebid- Hassan
Today morning drive to Hassan enroute visit Belur and Halebid.
The Chennakesava temple of Belur built 900 years ago is an exquisite
example of Hoysala art. Halebid's 12th century Hoysaleswara and Kedareswara
temples are master pieces of Hindu art. On the way also visit Sravanbelagola.
At Sravanbelagola, hewn out of a single rock and visible from a distance
of 25 kms is the statue of Lord Gomteshwara which is bathed with milk
and honey once every 12 years. Upon arrival at Hassan check into your
hotel.

Day 14 : Hassan - Hampi- Hospet
After breakfast drive to Hospet enroute visit Hampi.
Visit Hampi. The once beautiful capital city of Vijayanagar Empire
- greater than Rome, had palaces, temples & sculptures, spread
all over. The city was razed to the ground by the Sultanates of South
in 1565. Some of the interesting ruins remaining are the Virupaksha,
Vittala and Hazara Rama temples huge Ganesha and Narasimha images,
the elephant stables, the Queen's Bath, carvings on the Ramachandra
temple & Lotus Mahal.Upon arrival at Hospet check into your hotel.

Today morning visit pictures places such as Archaeological Museum,
Jogimatti, Himavat Kedaya waterfall, Murugharajendra Matha and Ankli
Matha.

Day 17 : Hospet - Badami
After breakfast drive to Badami, also known as Vatapi is rich
with Hindu and Jain temples carved out of sand stone hills. The carved
temples date back to the 6th century. Of these, three are Hindu and
one Jain. Sculptured out of solid rock they are adorned with carvings.
The Fort, on top of a hill encloses large granaries, treasury &
a watch tower. The Malegitti Shivalaya temple set on the summit of
a hill is built of stones without mortar.Upon arrival at Badami check
into your hotel.

Day 18 : Badami - Goa
This morning after breakfast drive to Goa. Upon arrival at Goa
check into your hotel.
Later proceed for sightseeing of Goa
Visit Old Goa, the most important Cathedrals and churches - namely
Se-Cathedral, Church of St. Francis Xavier, St. Catherine's Church,
Arch of Vice Roy of Goa. Miramar Beach - This is the only beach close
to any city and has a good view of the river Mandovi flowing into
the sea. Also visit Dona Paula fishing village which is a small village
at the tip of Panaji, the place has a very good viewpoint and a monument
at the same place. Later visit golden beaches, Temples, palm trees,
paddy fields and wooded hills. Its churches, temples, shrines and
forts tell its history. It is associated with music, the famous Goan
cuisine and most of all with a peace-loving , smiling people.
